1. Rocamadour
Rocamadour is a famous pilgrimage town and one of the most visited sites in France.
The town, dating back to 1166, is built into a cliff and is laid out on three levels.
It is best to park at the top near the château.
The château cannot be visited but if you have a two euro coin to pass through the old turnstile
you will be able to access the ramparts and the views from there are spectacular.
Then, you can walk down to the mid-level where the church and several chapels are located.
From there, you can walk down to the town itself and stroll the main street.
To get back, there are two sets of privately owned lifts: first from the main street to the mid-level and then the second to the top.
