Karen, Peter, Elizabeth and Michael,
Thank you for making our stay so memorable. The accommodations were fantastic. My kids loved the garden room!
The pool was great fun and the perfect ending to a warm day of touring.
We enjoyed our lovely garden and the grounds provided plenty of space for the kids to run after long car rides.
The sites in this part of France were amazing - Beynac Castle, Sarlat, Marqueyssac Gardens, Rogue St. Chrisopher,
Chateau de Commarque and the list goes on.
But most of all, thank you for your amazing hospitality. You made us feel like welcomed friends!

Dear Karen and Peter,
When we found your gite online, it looked like the perfect place for our extended time in France.
We are extremely picky and wanted a place where we would be comfortable with two young kids.
Everything about our stay has been perfect, from the gorgeous gardens to the perfectly equipped home,
from the delightful pool to the charm of this most beautiful part of the world.
We cannot thank you enough for your attention to detail, your hospitality and for being incredibly
warm and welcoming. You played a very large part in making this vacation a success for us and
we are so very grateful for that. We will miss seeing you both and do hope that when/if any of you
are ever in D.C. you will pay us a visit.
All the best,
The Walkers, Washington, DC

Karen and Peter,
Thank you so much for your hospitality and lovely, clean gite. You've managed to get the balance just right -
thoughtful touches (the computer, ipod dock, lovely bathroom), a really well-maintained pool area, and above
all the perfect hosts - always there without being obtrusive.
We were a little wary before arriving - the TripAdvisor ratings seemed too good to be true.
As it turned out, they were spot on! We wish you all the best for the future - you might even see us again!

This has been a marvelous place to stay - comfortable, attractive and so well-equipped. The Dordorgne region is now our
favorite in France - so picturesque and a multitude of places to go.
Karen and Peter are friendly, helpful hosts who are very knowledgeable about the region and are eager to inform you.
We ate at the hotel they recommended, LaTreille, and we even took pictures the presentation was so lovely.

Many thanks for a super relaxing week in the Dordogne. The location was perfect - close to bike and canoe rental, Sarlat,
some delicious boulangeries, plus we made great use of the pool. If you have a chance, try the rotisserie chicken and
perfect potatoes from the French woman and Belgian man at the Friday La Roque market, yum!
Karen the garden outside the window is part of the French dream - wonderful to be able to pick a few tomatoes and herbs.
Thanks and Merci,

Karen & Peter,
What can we say that hasn't been said before? The gite is lovely and very comfortable with all the modern conveniences you don't expect! The peace and tranquility is superb - so superb we slept in later than we have done for years!!
Your property is well-placed, as others have said, but it is a truly lovely place in its own right. We have enjoyed the pool, gardens and of course your good selves and Forté.
Although it is hard to pick one delightful visit from all the rest, we did especially enjoy our visit to Montpazier (recommended by a couple we met who live some of the time here abouts), the walled town is extremely pretty, but the place that stands out
to us is la Bastide Restaurant…the food and price is amazing!
Thank you Karen and Peter. We truly hope to be back - very soon.

Dear Karen and Peter,
We so enjoyed our visit to Le Petit Manoir. The darling Le Bois offered us a lovely place to rest and
your gite was our home away from home. Our adventures here included the caves, castles, the church in Vitrac
and lovely Easter Mass in Sarlat, a stormy canoe trip down the River and, most especially, the incredible food
and wine of France.
You were such wonderful hosts. Thank you, Karen, for you suggestions regarding the Jaquard and Limoges.
I will treasure this adventure. "Ya'll" are welcome to visit us in Dallas or our gite in Arkansas anytime!!
We hope to see you one day again soon-
Fondest regards,
Steve and Gwen

Dear Karen and Peter,
Until the day before yesterday, we thought that it would be difficult to write something positive here what
has not yet been mentioned by other guests: the beautiful site with its garden, the well equipped gite…
The breakdown of our car however gave us the "opportunity" to thank you also for all the assistance you gave
us including a joint dinner last night.
Thank you very much for everything, you are wonderful hosts!

No "complications". Everything fits/works: nice. Karen/Peter good with advice - just ask.
The "property" inside and out is fresh/well kept. No question as to where we would stay for a week or more
in the greater Sarlat area. Also, Karen is good with turning e-mail around. And…if you want a peaceful,
no road noise place to stay & maybe a dip in a pool…le Petit Manoir is the place. We had mid-80's sunny weather,
something else Karen and Peter "arranged".

Dear Karen & Peter,
Thank you for your wonderfully comfortable gite. We had a wonderful and very relaxing stay - paricularaly enjoyed

Would love to return for a longer stay,

Two families, one from England and one from Australia were reunited after 6 years!
(We have buried the hatchet somewhere in your garden!).
The accommodation was fabulous for us and Karen your restaurant recommendations were spot on with "top-shelf"!
The tower (of terror) was perfect for our late-night revelers! Although, the spiral staircase was challenging after
a few bottles of red!
Canoeing on the Dordogne is a must-do, but expect the occasional mutiny from crew members!
Visiting Padirac Caves is a must, it is a 4-star attraction, especially if you get Alan as your boat guide,
who tries to whistle the theme to Titanic whilst trying to capsize your boat. As thrilling as any ride @ Disney land.
Thanks Karen for coming and telling us about the wonderful "sports pour tous" festival in Vitrac on June 26,
the Dordogne's own little piece of Eurovision! It was a real high point!
Our gites were perfect for late night BBQ's - we had 6 years of news to catch up on!
Karen and Peter, congratulations on the fantastic attention to detail in the gites.
There were very well equipped kitchens, and we could have the internet, ipod docking stations,
computer satellite TV and washing facilities - and we're taking them with us!
What more can we say? We had a brilliant time - and we will be back with gusto!

Dear Karen and Peter,
We, and Maureen and Ken, were charmed by your lovely gite, your very warm welcome and assistance and helpful suggestions as well as all the comforts you provided.
The beauty of this area is so compelling and filled with natural and constructed wonders. And the restaurants, including La Treille, le Petit Paris (in Dagland)
and L'Esplanade in Domme were all very fine. Thank you for a fabulous vacation with all the comforts!

I have had a great time this week. There are lots of fun activities in the area like canoeing and climbing. Domme market on Thursday is worth a visit.
The garden and pool are amazing and Forte is soooo well-tempered, fun and gentle. The gite was tidy, well-equiped and spacious.
The computer, i-pod dock, wi-fi, T.V. and DVD player were much appreciated. Thank you very very much from Josie |
2010 |
Karen & Peter,
We've had an exciting, action-filled 7 days in the Dordogne and we'll be very sad to leave. Bar the first few days, the weather was fantastic and yesterday was a scorcher!
We'd definitely recommend spending a day on the Dordogne canoeing - it's the perfect way to have fun, top up your tan, and stay cool in the sun!
The gardens at Marqueyssac are beautiful and offer great views, enjoyable walks and a fantastic restaurant in the chateau which has a great range of salads!
We'd also recommend the caves - 'Gouffre de Padirac' which were spectacular but, a word or warning, get there early! (the queues can get very big!!!)
The accommodation was suberp - thak you!! The gite was very well equipped and extremely comfortable ( and stayed cool even in the most extreme heat).
Thank you for your kind welcome (and goodbye)!
Many thanks, The Clements Family

Karen and Peter,
Many thanks for allowing us to stay in your wonderful Gite, Le Pommier. The accommodation was superbly equipped - everything we needed!!!
This setting is truly beautiful and well located for all the tremendous facilities, Chateaux and grottes in the area of the Dordogne.
Our boys have thoroughly enjoyed the pool area and grounds, and so have we too!
Thank you for the suggestion of the Pizzeria Romaine in Sarlat. The food there was excellent and not expensive at all.
We will recommend your gite to all our family and friends and hope they too, one day, will experience this wonderful place in the future!
The Hunter Family, England.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely gite. The wisteria was in full flower with its heady fragrance and bees buzzing constantly among the flowers.
The weather was perfect as we toured the many sites in glorious sunshine - Jardins de Marqueyssac, Beynac, Chateau de Commarque, Sarlat market, Domme market, and a peaceful boat trip on the Dordogne in the gabarres.
Lascaux II, Roque St. Christophe & Abri du Cap Blanc were all impressive and the lovely town of St. Leon sur Vézère.
Karen and Peter are excellent hosts who go way out of their way to be helpful.
Merci beaucoup!

Sarlat is the most beautiful place we have ever been!
Thank you once again,

We have all had a fabulous holiday here in Le Rosier. The weather has been good - cool start and a roasting end - 38 C today - and we have had a great time exploring the areas we've been canoeing, to castles and to caves & plenty left for a return visit
. We've loved playing by the river and swimming in the refreshing water.
Le Rosier has been great - cool and very comfortable. A special thank you to Karen & Peter for being so welcoming and having wonderful cottages. We hope to see you agin.

We've had a wonderful holiday and Le Petit Manoir has been the perfect location for us to expore the Dordogne. Everything about the gite was just spot on.
The caves were amazing. We visited Font de Gaume and Gouffre de Padirac, both worth the visit even with a 2-hour queue at the latter.
Sarlat is lovely both during the day and in the evening, with lots of nice restaurants even if you don't want duck!
Our children loved the pool especially as the weather has been so unbelievable. Thank you to Karen & Peter for being the perfect hosts.

This is a little piece of paradise in the heart of the beautiful Dordogne. Le bois was so lovely and charming that we
would have been happy just to sit in the garden every day relaxing. However, we did venture out and thoroughly enjoyed the
canoe trip from Cenac to Beynac - a definite must for all to try. We also fell in love with Domme and Sarlat - especially
wandering round the streets at night. Very atmospheric!
Further afield, our teenage son voted Gouffre de Padirac a fantastic trip out, well worth the drive and Cahors market
was a revelation.
Thank you so much, Karen and Peter, for your very warm welcome. We'll think of you both when we crack open the
Cahors, Domaine de la Bateliers. Cheers!

Having missed the internet instructions for the location of Le Petit-Manoir, one phone call was enough for Peter to
meet us at the Vitrac Church - a most welcomed gesture which typified the introduction we received to this wonderful region.
We were amazed at just how much there was to see and do within a short drive. We enjoyed the prehistory tours at Grottes de
Font de Gaume and Abri de Cap-Blanc, the market and Cenac for our bread, the canoe trip from Carsac to Vitrac Port,
the beauty of the Dordogne and villages such as La Roque-Gageac.
It was very useful to have the "green" guide to suitable restaurants as we very much enjoyed Le Petit Manoir and
le Bistro de l"Octroi. Our accommodation was superb so spending time at 'home' was always a pleasure.

Dear Karen! Dear Peter!
A great vacation comes to an end and we start to sort out memories of the last two weeks. None of them bad! Pleasant to find a gite so much to our taste,
so completely furnished, so tastefully equipped and so "tres comfortable"! On top of this we are so happy of the privilege to have met you two
and your son - "instant liking" describes it best. We plan to return - also because of the beautiful Dordogne region and its fabulous cuisine.
We thank you for being perfect hosts and look forward to "next time" - here or in Hamburg where you are welcome any time.
Thank you! Joachim
Thank you for your kindness and warm welcome - Claudine

Thank you for making our stay such a great success. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, the pool being the biggest attraction.
The Dordogne offers a lot more than we anticipated and we expect to be revisiting the area in the next 12-24 months.
We think your development is wonderful and so tastefully done, retaining all the character and offering very practical well furnished accommodation.
We wish you all the success in the future.
Kind regards, Andrew and Alison, Tom, Ben and Lucy

Dear Karen & Peter,
We are delighted that your dream of living in Perigord has resulted in such a lovely place for visitors to stay.
And indeed, we feel like cherished guests, as you have been available for every need that has come up.
We appreciate both your advice about activities in the area and how thoughtfully you have renovated a big old barn into comfortable well equipped gites.
Best wishes for your continuing success - Joanna & Peter

We spent a lovely holiday here at Le Petit Manoir. That was not only due to the great weather and the beautiful scenery of the Dordogne valley
but also to this wonderful and perfectly equipped gîte, the fantastic pool and of course the warm welcome by the entire Kowalik McLeod family, including Forte.
Thank you very much and au revoir (and we mean it)
Monika, Gerhard, Elisabeth and Alexander from Germany

We all had a fabulous holiday here at Le Petit-Manoir. We particularly like the gite, your gardens and the pool. The sites that we've enjoyed included the candlelit
gardens and La Roque St Christophe - they were great. We managed to have a mostly sunny week and our visit was made even more lovely by you all being so welcoming and friendly!
Thank you for the memorable holiday.
Love, Alison, James, Haltie + Milly

Thank you for the pool and Forte to play with. The gite is so perfect and there are loads of things to do in the Dordogne.
The gardens on Thursday night are really good and so is Sarlat market. You have done really good job with the gites and the garden.
THANK YOU.
Zach, Josh, Michael, Susi, Grahame and Pam.
